Description

“Tribals in Tiger Territories of Vidarbha: Issues and Challenges” is the outcome of ICSSR, New Delhi sponsored research project. First Tiger Reserve was notified in 1973 and today there are 50 Tiger Reserves in the country and five in Maharashtra which are in Vidarbha region. Tribals inhabit most of the Tiger Reserves affected villages. The presence of human settlements inside the core area causes problems in the preservation of the Tiger. On other hand, the villages located in the Reserves areas are deprived of the basic civic facilities like schools, hospitals, markets, transport, etc. Book is about the nature of intervention methods employed by the government (Forest Department) and their effects on the tribal in the context of social work practice. The book has tried to plug the alternative sources of income adopted by the tribal for earning a livelihood in the context of sustainable development.
